You make me laugh! Thank you for your honest commentary on the two movies profiled here. I've seen neither of them, but from what I've heard from so many others (gay and straight), you may be a little bit off in your assessment of the "gay cowboy" movie. Then again, it is your opinion and that's at least worth as much as mine.
I'm glad to hear you admit you aren't hetrosexual as I've questioned that since your first posting. I wonder if perhaps your confusion over your own sexuality didn't color your experience with the "gay cowboy" movie. Just my thought.
I'm sure you are an asset to the temple or tabernacle you currently attend, although I was slightly concerned when I heard your mentor's comments.

Yikes! I've been listening to your audio blogs, and was just horrified to hear your comments about Brokeback Mountain. I'm the straight mom of a gay son, and I LOVED that film. More than my son did, I have to say. He isn't much for westerns. It seemed to me to be a very accurate depiction of the lives of gay men in the West in that time. The loneliness of both of these men was just heart-wrenching. And it wasn't just about gay men, either -- it was about people who are afraid of themselves, and afraid of giving themselves in love. It was about loneliness, and all of us have experienced THAT.
When your "mentor" called you a "former fag" and you thought it was FUNNY? That makes me shudder. I love you, Marvin; you come through your blogs so honestly and clearly. You are a lovable man, and if you want to consider yourself 'ex-gay' -- I accept the labels people put on themselves, even if I see something quite different. But I want to tell you that Jesus loves you just the way you are, and if your mentor cannot help but insult you so cruelly, you should stay away from that man. I haven't seen the Silverman film, so I can't comment. I hope you keep blogging, dear Marvin!
I am so sad that Peterson became to narrow-minded and stuck in his own agenda so he didn't allow you and your honest and insightful agenda to stay here. Censorship is so dangerous and he is on a hazardous slippery slope that man.
